Job description

Description

Associate Corporate Counsel
Shape the Future of Insurance.

AGIS is seeking a business-minded Associate Corporate Counsel who wants to do more than provide legal guidance. This is an opportunity to influence strategy, drive regulatory excellence, and partner directly with executive leadership in a growing and innovative insurance organization.

If you thrive at the intersection of law, business, compliance, and risk management, this role offers the visibility and impact to help shape the future of our organization while navigating an evolving regulatory landscape.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

As Associate Corporate Counsel, you won't be confined to a single area of law. You'll partner with leaders across Compliance, Government Affairs, Product, Claims, Actuarial, and Executive Leadership to help guide key business decisions, manage enterprise risk, and ensure regulatory compliance in a highly regulated industry.

You'll have a seat at the table where strategic decisions are made.
  • Advise business leaders on insurance regulatory and corporate legal matters
  • Provide guidance on privacy, AI governance, corporate compliance, and emerging regulations
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and regulatory filings
  • Collaborate with Product, Claims, Compliance, and Actuarial teams to support compliant insurance offerings
  • Support corporate governance initiatives, board reporting, and policy development
  • Manage regulatory inquiries, examinations, and market conduct matters
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting the insurance industry
  • Identify legal risks while helping business leaders achieve strategic objectives
What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (California is a MUST)
  • 5-10 years of legal experience in: Insurance Law, Regulatory Compliance, Corporate Governance, Corporate Transactions
  • Deep understanding of personal auto insurance products and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience advising cross-functional business partners and executive leadership
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance
The Ideal Candidate- You're a strategic advisor, not simply a legal reviewer.

You understand how to balance business objectives with regulatory requirements and can effectively influence stakeholders at every level of the organization. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity, building partnerships, and helping organizations proactively address legal and compliance challenges before they become risks.

If you're looking for a role where your legal expertise can directly influence business strategy, strengthen governance, and drive innovation within the insurance industry, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Gain
  • Competitive compensation: with bonus incentive
  • Executive-level exposure and influence
  • Opportunity to shape legal and compliance strategy
  • Collaborative and growth-focused culture
  • Meaningful work supporting a dynamic insurance organization
  • Opportunity to make a measurable impact across the enterprise

  • Standard business hours with occasional flexibility needed to support business priorities and deadlines.
  • Occasional travel (up to 10-15%) for company meetings, industry events, or business-related activities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including typing, reviewing documents, and participating in virtual meetings.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and video conferencing tools.
