Job summary

The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law seeks a Senior Counsel for the Digital Justice Initiative to lead high-impact litigation and advocacy at the intersection of technology, equity, and justice. This role reports to the Director of DJI and offers autonomy to shape strategy and outcomes.

You will develop and prosecute cutting-edge cases, collaborate with clients and co-counsel, and mentor attorneys and fellows while advancing civil rights in the digital realm.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited law school.
• A minimum of 9 years post-JD legal experience.
• Active membership in the District of Columbia bar or ability to waive in.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex litigation matters or legal workstreams.
• Familiarity with technology and civil rights issues such as data privacy and algorithmic bias.

Responsibilities

• Litigate in federal and/or state courts.
• Develop and execute litigation and advocacy strategies for high-impact matters.
• Lead complex legal workstreams and case teams with priorities and timelines.
• Conduct legal research and write memoranda, briefs, and other documents.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and paralegals.
