Job summary

American Structurepoint, Inc. in Indianapolis is seeking a Lead Counsel to serve as the firm’s senior legal advisor, directing legal affairs across the organization and partnering with executives to mitigate risk.

The role oversees corporate governance, contracts, claims, compliance, employment issues, and outside counsel relationships, while guiding policy development and training for consistent contracting practices.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active Indiana license to practice law.
• Experience handling corporate legal matters, contracts, claims, employment issues, compliance, risk management, and outside counsel coordination.
• Ability to advise executive leadership and translate legal analysis into practical business guidance.
• Demonstrated leadership of legal or contracts personnel and development of team capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the contracts function, including review, negotiation, approval processes, templates, risk allocation, and coordination with project managers.
• Serve as the firm's lead legal advisor on corporate governance, contracts, claims, compliance, employment, risk management, insurance, leases, licensing, and other legal matters.
• Coordinate the firm's claims process with the CFO, including strategy, documentation, and management of outside counsel.
• Advise leadership on legal risks and business decisions requiring judgment.
• Manage outside counsel relationships, including scope, budget, and strategy.
• Develop, maintain, and improve legal policies, procedures, templates, and training.
• Support HR on employment-related matters, investigations, and policy interpretation.
• Provide legal support for corporate transactions, leases, insurance, licensure, and regulatory compliance.
• Promote proactive risk management and resolve project or business roadblocks.
• Other duties as assigned.
