Job summary
Protective in Birmingham, AL seeks a licensed attorney with 5+ years in commercial real estate lending to provide and manage legal support for investment activities. You will close mortgage loans, draft and negotiate documents, and ensure regulatory compliance while maintaining client relationships.
Responsibilities include portfolio maintenance, serving as legal advisor to the Investment Department, and supervising legal staff.
Qualifications
- Attorney with 5+ years of negotiating and legal drafting experience equivalent to a partner at a major law firm.
- Broad knowledge of commercial real estate lending and related regulatory requirements.
- Strong commitment to quality, responsiveness and customer service.
Responsibilities
- New Mortgage Loan Closings. Prepare, review, analyze, negotiate and modify loan documents securing investments.
- Coordinate with outside counsel for closings and review related title/due diligence materials.
- Portfolio Maintenance. Document changes to loans or collateral (releases, consents, modifications).
- Serve as Legal Advisor to Investment Department; assist in policy development for regulatory compliance.
- Manage and train one or more legal support staff (secretaries, assistants, paralegals).
- Other duties as assigned by senior management.
