Job summary

Goosmann Law Firm seeks an experienced Senior Counsel – Business Attorney to join its corporate and transactional practice in Omaha, Nebraska. This full-time, in-person role targets attorneys with a strong private-practice background who enjoy advising closely held and middle-market businesses.

You will advise on succession planning, ownership transitions, governance, and mergers & acquisitions, while mentoring junior attorneys and collaborating across practice areas.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission are required.
• Minimum of 6 years of private-practice experience in corporate/transactional law.
• Experience with closely held businesses, governance and M&A preferred.
• Nebraska license or eligibility to obtain license; other state licenses will be considered.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Advise business owners on succession planning and ownership transitions
• Manage entity formation, restructuring, and governance matters
• Lead and support mergers and acquisitions
• Serve as a trusted business advisor to clients
• Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate across practice areas
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school; active bar admission

• Minimum of 6 years of private practice experience
• Demonstrated experience working with closely held businesses, including succession planning, governance, and M&A
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills
• Must be currently licensed in Nebraska or eligible to become licensed; Other state licenses (especially in states within our footprint) while not required, will be considered.
