Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Cost and Project Accountant I to manage contract revenue, cost of sales, and inventory for our Albuquerque program. The role partners with the Program Accounting Manager and collaborates with various teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and cost control.

Key duties include revenue/cost recognition, backlog tracking, inventory reconciliation, and SOX-compliant process documentation. Requires 5+ years of cost accounting experience and ERP systems expertise.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent years of work experience (HS Diploma and 9+ years of work experience)
• Strong cost accounting experience in a complex manufacturing environment
• Strong ERP systems knowledge and experience

Responsibilities

• Own project revenue and cost recognition for assigned contracts
• Update and reconcile customer contract backlog and contract assets/liabilities
• Track and reconcile inventory for multiple programs
• Support Estimate At Completion (EAC) cycles for project estimates and revenue recognition
• Review and interpret new contracts under the 5-step ASC 606 revenue standards
• Set up programs and charge codes in the accounting system
• Initiate process improvements to enhance cost control and reporting
• Document revenue and cost processes to satisfy SOX requirements
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting requests and assist with cost accounting closes
