Base pay range

$140,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Cost Manager with proven experience in data center construction to join our industry-leading cost management and estimating team in New York. In this senior role, you will lead complex, high-value projects, provide strategic cost guidance to clients, and mentor junior staff. You will be responsible for delivering cost management services across all phases of major data center developments—from concept through closeout—while ensuring commercial control, budget integrity, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Cost Management: Lead the development and implementation of cost control strategies across multiple data center projects; provide oversight of change management and contingency planning.
• High-Level Budget Oversight: Manage complex project budgets and forecasts; advise clients on financial planning and capital deployment.
• Client Advisory: Serve as a trusted advisor to key stakeholders and client leadership on commercial decisions and value optimization.
• Invoice & Cost Reconciliation: Oversee cost tracking systems and ensure accuracy of invoice processing and financial reporting.
• Advanced Reporting: Produce executive-level reports on cost performance, earned value, and risk.
• Contract and Procurement Strategy: Lead procurement processes, contract negotiations, and supplier evaluations in alignment with project goals.
• Team Leadership: Mentor junior cost professionals, provide peer reviews, and drive best practices across the cost management function.
• Project Closeout: Oversee final project reconciliation, audit preparation, and closeout documentation.
• Schedule and Compliance Oversight: Ensure project schedule alignment and adherence to QA/QC standards and financial controls.
• BIM & 5D Integration: Leverage BIM 5D tools for cost modeling and visual forecasting on large-scale technical projects.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Cost Estimating, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g., RICS, AACE, CCP) are highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in construction cost management, with a strong track record in data center or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Deep expertise in pre-construction estimating, contract administration, value engineering, and lifecycle costing.
• Familiarity with industry-standard tools and platforms (e.g., CostX, Prism, Sage, BIM 5D environments).
