Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or equivalent.
• Strong ability to visualize and quantify project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cost reports and forecasts, interfacing with estimating, procurement and finance.
• Support cost control, scheduling and progress reporting.
• Monitor cost variances and forecast final project cost.
• Prepare project cost estimates from concept through development stages.
• Develop and maintain cost estimating tools and databases.
• Benchmark project metrics with industry standards.

About the role

Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager in the San Francisco Bay Area. The successful candidate will support project leaders by delivering core services, including estimation, procurement, and cost planning, while ensuring work is completed on budget and to the highest standards. This role will contribute to successful project outcomes, knowledge sharing, and innovation, reinforcing Currie & Brown’s reputation as a trusted partner.

Responsibilities will include:

• Undertaking construction project cost reporting and analysis, including significant interface with estimating, procurement, scheduling, document control and finance/accounting when appropriate
• Assisting and implementing cost control, schedule and progress control reporting
• Monitoring cost performance to discover and understand variances from the budget
• Producing accurate/unbiased cost forecasts at a detailed and summary level
• Identifying and ensuring early warning of adverse cost trends so that corrective actions can be taken
• Forecasting the final cost of the project based on the analysis of the actual incurred cost against the agreed budget
• Supporting client account, monthly invoicing, and purchase order management
• Assisting with project cost estimates from conceptual through various stages of project development using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios
• Establishing new and maintaining existing cost and estimating tools, methods and databases used to produce project estimates
• Participating in industry benchmarking of project metrics

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Ability to conceptually visualize and quantify project requirements
• Knowledge of estimating and cost control applications
• Demonstrate advanced industry knowledge and facilitation skills in pricing analysis, modeling, purchase price cost analysis and identifying competitive benchmarks
• Exceptional time management, prioritization, and negotiation skills
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs
