Job summary

Gleeds is seeking a seasoned Quantity Surveyor to join our Cost Management team for a North Coast project. You will perform take-offs, prepare BOQs, and develop cost plans to guide projects from inception to completion.

You will value works, manage variations, and produce timely reports for clients while mentoring junior staff and supporting procurement strategies. Relocation to the site is preferred but flexible arrangements may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 5–7 years post graduate experience in quantity surveying and construction methods.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and logical skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Ability to think creatively and identify cost saving opportunities.
• Sound knowledge of cost estimating and cost planning techniques.

Responsibilities

• Perform quantities take-off and prepare Bills of Quantities from drawings and specifications.
• Prepare and present cost estimates and produce cost plans.
• Value construction works and provide interim and final payment recommendations.
• Value changes and variations.
• Ensure all costs and quantity records are streamlined and kept in order.
• Deliver high quality cost management deliverables meeting client requirements.
• Advise on procurement strategies, risk management and cost-saving measures.
• Produce and present reports to clients.
• Lead, mentor, and train the Cost Management team.

• Preparing and presenting order of cost estimates and produce cost plans.
• Valuating construction works and production of interim and final payment recommendations.
• Valuing of changes and variations.
• Make sure that all costs and quantity records are streamlined and kept in order.
• Delivering high quality services and ensuring that cost management deliverables meet customers’ requirements deliverables in accordance with the business procedures.
• Advising on and implementing procurement strategies, risk management and cost-saving measures.
• Producing and presenting reports to the clients.
• Leading, mentoring, guiding, and contributing to the training of Cost Management team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
• 5-7 years post graduate demonstrable experience in different aspects of quantity surveying and construction methods and materials.
• Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and logical skills
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Ability to think creatively and identify cost saving opportunities.
• Sound knowledge and practical experience of cost estimating and cost planning techniques.
• Working knowledge of construction procurement strategies, including tendering and contract strategies.
• Be able to work as part of team
• Flexibility to relocate and work at the North Coast project site is preferred.
