Job summary

OCMI, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator with Mechanical and Plumbing estimating experience to join our cost management team in a fully remote role. You will lead comprehensive estimating efforts, oversee QA/QC, and communicate cost strategies to clients and A/E consultants.

The candidate will support one of the nation’s largest healthcare programs, guiding complex cost work, mentoring staff, and interfacing with internal stakeholders. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years as cost estimating professional, preferably in consultancy or large GC
• HCAI healthcare project estimating experience required
• Ability to interpret construction docs and coordination drawings (M/P)
• OST or similar takeoff software proficiency preferred
• Advanced Excel skills and clear written/verbal communication
• Travel to project sites/meetings as needed
• Degree in construction/engineering/architecture or 5 years related experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• Lead estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations at all levels of project development.
• Provide conceptual-level estimates, detailed quantity take-off, change order reviews/reconciliations, and value engineering solutions as necessary
• Develop and present a detailed review of all documentation and develop comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate the client’s project and strategic goals
• Provide mentorship and training to estimating staff and direct reports, supporting professional growth and team performance
• Ensure a quality product is presented to the client by adhering to QA/QC procedures
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project goals
• Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining the accuracy of cost information
• Support business development efforts by developing, promoting, and maintaining client relationships by creating cost exhibits for proposals, meetings, presentations, etc.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 7 years as a cost estimating professional, preferably as a consultant or for a large national general contractor, to include, but not limited to, conceptual estimating, take-offs, change order review/reconciliation, value engineering solutions, risk mitigation and management, etc. Mechanical and Plumbing (M/P) estimating experience is required.
• Prior HCAI healthcare project estimating experience required.
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents at all levels of design (drawings, specifications), including Mechanical and Plumbing plans, specifications, and coordination documents.
• Proficient user of On-Screen Takeoff (OST) software or similar quantity takeoff software preferred.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel intermittently for projects and meetings with clients and project site visits.
• A bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or architecture, or 5 years minimum of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree, is preferred. Mechanical or Plumbing trade experience is highly desirable.
