Job summary

OCMI, Inc. is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator with Mechanical and Plumbing estimating experience, including healthcare projects, to lead comprehensive estimating efforts remotely.

You will guide cost strategies, ensure quality control, and interact with clients and A/E consultants while coordinating with internal stakeholders. You will mentor staff, develop detailed cost estimates/models, and support business development initiatives on one of the nation’s largest healthcare programs, with hybrid

• 7+ years as a cost estimating professional (consultant or large GC)
• M/P estimating experience required
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specs, and coordination docs
• Proficient in OST or similar takeoff software
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel

We're excited to welcome a Senior Cost Estimator with Mechanical and Plumbing estimating experience, including experience estimating on HCAI healthcare projects, to join our team. This is a fantastic remote opportunity where you'll play a key role on our cost management/estimating team, leading comprehensive estimating efforts, overseeing quality control, clearly communicating cost strategies to clients and A/E consultants, leading reconciliations, and interacting with internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• Lead estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations at all levels of project development.
• Provide conceptual-level estimates, detailed quantity take-off, change order reviews/reconciliations, and value engineering solutions as necessary
• Develop and present a detailed review of all documentation and develop comprehensive cost estimates/models that communicate the client’s project and strategic goals
• Provide mentorship and training to estimating staff and direct reports, supporting professional growth and team performance
• Ensure a quality product is presented to the client by adhering to QA/QC procedures
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project goals
• Actively research, solicit, and develop sources/vendors for compiling and maintaining the accuracy of cost information
• Support business development efforts by developing, promoting, and maintaining client relationships by creating cost exhibits for proposals, meetings, presentations, etc.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 7 years as a cost estimating professional, preferably as a consultant or for a large national general contractor, to include, but not limited to, conceptual estimating, take-offs, change order review/reconciliation, value engineering solutions, risk mitigation and management, etc. Mechanical and Plumbing (M/P) estimating experience is required.
• Prior HCAI healthcare project estimating experience required.
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret construction documents at all levels of design (drawings, specifications), including Mechanical and Plumbing plans, specifications, and coordination documents.
• Proficient user of On-Screen Takeoff (OST) software or similar quantity takeoff software preferred.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel intermittently for projects and meetings with clients and project site visits.
• A bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or architecture, or 5 years minimum of applicable construction trade experience in lieu of a degree, is preferred. Mechanical or Plumbing trade experience is highly desirable.
