Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator for a downtown Chicago construction consulting firm. You’ll work directly with Owners, Architects, and GCs to develop detailed cost estimates for a variety of projects.

Located in Chicagoland with some remote flexibility (4 days in office, 1 day remote), you’ll leverage your 5–10 years of experience, take-offs, and software proficiency to drive accurate bids and support growth.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in cost estimation within the construction industry, preferably at an estimating/consulting firm
• Proven experience with quantity take-offs and estimating across CSI divisions
• Exceptional analytical skills with keen attention to detail
• Strong communication and presentation skills for diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency in industry-standard cost estimating software and tools
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or related field preferred
• CP/CEP/CCP certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates for construction projects across CSI divisions
• Evaluate data to forecast cost, size, and duration of projects
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and architects to develop accurate estimates
• Prepare and present cost reports and analyses to senior leadership
• Review and update cost estimating tools and methodologies for accuracy
• Identify and mitigate risks to keep projects on time and budget
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and materials

We focus on education, transit, government, healthcare, and more. We are looking for someone to come on board who has a strong Cost Estimating background with an estimating consulting company, or something similar.

This individual must be located in Chicagoland or willing to relocate to Chicago immediately.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Cost Estimator to join our team. This person should be located in the Chicagoland area, and there is some remote flexibility with this role. As a Senior Cost Estimator, you will be a crucial part of our construction operations, providing detailed cost estimates for a variety of projects. Responsibilities

1. 1. Conducting detailed quantity take-offs and preparing cost estimates for construction projects across all CSI divisions.
2. 2. Evaluating and analyzing data to accurately forecast the cost, size, and duration of future projects.
3. 3. Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
4. 4. Preparing and presenting cost reports and analyses to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to guide decision-making.
5. 5. Reviewing and updating existing cost estimating tools and methodologies to ensure their accuracy and effectiveness.
6. 6. Identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
7. 7. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and construction materials to inform cost estimation.

Qualifications

1. 1. 5-10 years of experience in cost estimation within the construction industry - must have experience working for an estimating firm, construction consulting firm, or something similar.
2. 2. Proven experience with quantity take-offs and estimating across all CSI divisions.
3. 3. Exceptional analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
4. 4. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to a variety of stakeholders.
5. 5. Proficiency in industry-standard cost estimating software and tools.
6. 6. A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
7. 7. Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) are a plus.
