Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) in Pittsburgh is seeking a Sr. Cost Specialist to join our Project Controls team. This role will drive cost visibility, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across large EPC energy and utility projects in North America.

You will own cost tracking, develop EAC/ETC forecasts, apply Earned Value Management, and deliver clear cost reports for leadership. Remote initially, then in-office as the new Pittsburgh office opens; travel up to 15%.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of project cost control or project controls experience in EPC, construction, utilities, or energy infrastructure.
• Strong hands-on experience with cost forecasting, budget management, change management, and cost/risk trend analysis.
• Experience supporting project-based capital programs; manufacturing or corporate accounting experience alone is not a fit.
• Advanced Excel skills, ERP: JDE and/or EcoSys, Procore preferred.
• Ability to turn complex cost data into clear, actionable insights for Project Managers and leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Track, analyze, and control costs across complex EPC energy and utility projects, including transmission, substations, renewables, and utility construction.
• Monitor project budgets, actuals, forecasts, and cost trends across multi-year projects.
• Develop and maintain EAC and ETC forecasts to support accurate project projections.
• Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles (highly preferred) to assess performance and identify cost and schedule variances.
• Identify cost risks, trends, and deviations; escalate issues to Project Managers and leadership.
• Support change management, including change orders, budget transfers, and cost impact analysis.
• Partner with Project Managers, Operations, and technical teams to align cost performance with project execution.
• Prepare clear cost reports, dashboards, and forecasts for project and leadership teams.
• Support Project Controls Execution Plans and ensure compliance with company processes and standards.
• Use JDE, EcoSys, Procore, Excel, and Power BI for cost tracking, analysis, and reporting.
• Serve as a trusted cost control resource and contribute to continuous process improvement.
