Job summary

CAPTEK Softgel International, a global leader in nutraceuticals and contract manufacturing, seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to join its finance team in Southern California. The role focuses on cost accuracy, margin analysis, inventory valuation, and supporting pricing strategies in a fast-paced CMO environment.

You will develop standard costs, BOMs, routing data, analyze variances, support monthly closes, and collaborate with Operations, QA, and R&D.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in VMS, pharma, nutraceuticals, or food & beverage.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, BOMs, inventory control, and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SysPro, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical mindset.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with operations, R&D, and sales teams.
• Experience with process manufacturing or batch production a plus.

Responsibilities

• Costing & Inventory Accounting: Develop and maintain standard costs, BOMs, and routing data.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead) and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform monthly and quarterly inventory valuation and reconcile inventory accounts.
• Review and analyze purchase price variances, production order variances, and scrap.
• Review and finalize closing of work orders and jobs weekly.
