Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Senior Accountant - Cost to support the Fortify Building Solutions accounting team. You will manage month-end close, reconcile ledgers, and analyze cost and inventory across ERPs while ensuring GAAP compliance and SOX controls.

Responsibilities include preparing journal entries, supporting management reports, and collaborating with divisions. Strong Excel and ERP experience are required; MBA/CPA/CMA are a plus, with a competitive US salary and benefits.

The Senior Accountant - Cost of the Fortify Building Solutions accounting team will be responsible for performing tasks across multiple ERPs and assisting with process and control standardization efforts across multiple teams. The ideal candidate will have exposure to multiple accounting systems and working with teams in a remote environment, while possessing strong analytical skills and being able to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Reporting to the Fortify Building Solutions Senior Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant - Cost will assist in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, supporting the monthly accounting close and related tasks, and providing strategic financial insights to support business decisions.

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the monthly accounting close and related tasks, including but not limited to preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger and performing other assigned duties. Additionally, the Senior Accountant - Cost will assist in enhancing the monthly close, consolidation, and internal reporting processes.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Oversee daily general ledger activities across multiple ERPs
• Maintain and analyze detailed cost and inventory activity, and generate reports to support management decisions and profitability analysis
• Prepare (and review) journal entries in accordance with US GAAP
• Provide ad-hoc support to Division and Segment leadership
• Prepare and review cost reports, and variance analysis
• Compile and execute quarterly and annual cost updates
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies
• Coordinate and assist with internal / external audit requests
• Assist with developing and carrying out process improvement initiatives
• Continued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; MBA preferred, CPA or CMA certification a plus
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant cost accounting experience, with a progression of responsibilities
• Proficiency in accounting software (Oracle R12, NetSuite, JDE, Epicor) preferred
• Strong knowledge of cost accounting methods, variance analysis, and financial reporting standards (GAAP, SOX compliance)
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000-$105,000 + bonus + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
