Job summary

Laborie seeks a Senior Cost Accountant to support operations financial close across locations and deliver monthly reporting including KPIs to Finance, Plant Managers, and operations teams. The role covers inventory, month-end reconciliation, excess/obsolete reserve analysis, and cycle counting.

You will partner with operations on forecasting, AOP, budgets, and cost‑saving initiatives (Kaizen, VSM, Six Sigma), and help establish accurate product and standard costs in the ERP system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
• 7+ years in accounting/finance with operations/manufacturing focus.
• 3–5 years experience with SAP; advanced MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI).
• Demonstrated professionalism in written and verbal communications; cross‑functional teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Month-End & Cost Accounting: close activities including inventory, COGS, variances, capex, journal entries, reconciliations, standard costing, and audits.
• Operations Finance Partnership: partner with operations on forecasting, budgets, planning, capital spend, and Kaizen/Six Sigma cost savings.
• Costing & Variance Analysis: analyze labor, overhead, material variances; review BOMs; maintain product costs in ERP.
• Reporting, Modeling & Decision Support: build financial models, KPIs, make/buy analyses, capex requests, performance reports.
• Inventory & Systems Support: support inventories, cycle counts, ERP/SAP implementations and enhancements.

Who We’re Looking For:

As a key member of the Finance team, the Senior Cost Accountant will support the operations financial close for varied locations and prepare monthly financial reporting including KPIs to review with Finance, Plant Managers, and operations teams. The Senior Cost Accountant will support the team in all aspects of inventory including month‑end reconciliation, excess and obsolete reserve analysis, and cycle counting analysis.

About the Role:

• Month‑End & Cost Accounting: Support month‑end close activities including inventory, COGS, manufacturing variances, capital expenditures, journal entries, reconciliations, standard costing, and audit support.
• Operations Finance Partnership: Serve as a key business partner to operations, supporting forecasting, AOP, budgets, strategic planning, capital spend planning, and cost‑savings initiatives (Kaizen, VSM, Six Sigma).
• Costing & Variance Analysis: Research, calculate, and analyze labor, overhead, and material variances; review bills of materials; establish and maintain accurate product and standard costs in the ERP system.
• Reporting, Modeling & Decision Support: Prepare financial models and analyses (e.g., make/buy decisions), production efficiency metrics, capital expenditure requests, and operational performance reports.
• Inventory & Systems Support: Support physical inventories and cycle counts, ensure accurate inventory valuation, and assist with SAP/ERP implementations and system enhancements.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in Accounting or Finance positions with the majority in operations and/or manufacturing.
• 3-5 years experience with SAP
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI
• Demonstrated professionalism in written and verbal communications, ability to effectively work with a cross‑functional team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3-5 years’ experience with SAP
• CPA / CMA / MBA preferred
• Exposure to Planful, BPC, Oracle EPM, Blackline helpful
