Job summary

The State of Hawai‘i is seeking a Corrections Program Specialist II to perform program development and evaluation, policy review and recommendation, and studies of management related to all aspects of the State's Corrections program.

This level involves the most difficult and complex program development and evaluation work, including studies of management, organization, staffing, and related concerns. A relevant bachelor's degree and experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, psychology, criminology, penology or related behavioral science with coursework in research or statistics.
  • Two and a half years of progressively responsible professional counseling or related social services work in corrections.
  • Specialized experience in corrections including studies for evaluation of program objectives and recommending changes.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license may be required for some vacancies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop program plans and policies for the corrections program.
  • Revise and evaluate policies, programs, procedures, standards and guidelines.
  • Perform studies of management, organization, staffing and related concerns in the corrections program.
