Job summary

Markent Personnel is seeking a hands-on Tax Manager to own the income tax function in Phoenix. You will lead the tax provision process for financial reporting and supervise return preparation with external preparers and internal staff.

You will coach a team of tax accountants, ensure accuracy across federal and state filings, and drive process improvements, controls, and service levels to support management and auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
• 6+ years of tax experience in public accounting or corporate environment.
• Strong federal, state, and local tax knowledge.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities with strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop tax accountants through coaching, supervision, and feedback.
• Own the quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision.
• Oversee federal and state income tax return calculations and filings.
• Review FIN 48 and UNICAP positions.
• Respond to notices and inquiries from taxing authorities.
• Work with internal and external auditors.
• Research and deliver tax information requested by management and outside parties.
• Support related areas including sales tax, property tax, payroll tax, or incentives.
• Map, document, and re-engineer tax processes to improve efficiency and controls.
