Job summary

Busey seeks an Associate General Counsel to serve as a senior legal advisor to executive leadership and the enterprise. The role leads complex regulatory, transactional, and risk management matters, shaping strategy while ensuring compliance with banking laws and SEC requirements.

The successful candidate will oversee legal risk, coordinate with risk and finance teams on strategic initiatives, and manage outside counsel and budgets as needed.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of banking and financial services regulations.
• Experience with commercial loan documentation and secured transactions.
• Litigation management and dispute resolution experience.
• Understanding of cybersecurity and data privacy laws.
• Ability to assess legal risk and ensure compliance across the enterprise.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal counsel to executive leadership and business partners.
• Coordinate with Risk Management to align policies with regulatory requirements.
• Assist with SEC reporting, disclosure matters, and insider trading guidance.
• Supervise enterprise risk management from the legal perspective.
• Oversee regulatory examinations and strategic transactional support, including M&A and debt issuances.
• Review vendor contracts and general agreements as needed.
