Job summary

Happen Bank is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to provide high‑quality legal analysis and strategic guidance across our consumer finance products. The role demands strong communication, judgment, and the ability to partner with business teams on product development and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include advising on laws such as TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, and FDCPA, monitoring regulatory developments, and collaborating with Compliance to manage risk and consumer issues.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed in good standing in one or more states.
• 3–5 years of combined law firm, government and/or in-house experience, with 1–2 years in consumer finance.
• Experience advising on TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Reg B, FCRA/Reg V, BSA/AML, EFTA/Reg E, TCPA/TSR, FDCPA, UDAAP and GLBA/Reg P.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-changing business environment and consider AI tools in the legal space.
• Comfort in hands-on execution of legal advice with business partners.

Responsibilities

• Deliver strategic and tactical legal support for activities in the consumer finance space.
• Advise on development of new products/services and changes to existing ones.
• Monitor federal, state, and local regulatory developments affecting lending and servicing.
• Partner with Compliance for risk support and handling consumer complaints.
• Collaborate to improve processes ensuring consistent interpretation of legal requirements.
• Drive other matters in support of the bank’s strategic objectives.
• Assist the Legal Department with assignments as delegated.
