Job summary

Grand Casino Mille Lacs is seeking an experienced in-house legal counsel to advise Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures and subsidiaries in corporate, regulatory and gaming matters. The role focuses on contract negotiations, risk assessment, and compliance with tribal and state laws.

You will collaborate with in-house counsel and outside counsel, support employee benefit plans, and help align business activities with Mille Lacs Band traditions while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Minnesota.
• At least five years’ experience in-house or law firm with corporate law and M&A focus.
• Experience in legal research, legal writing, contract law, Indian/tribal law, business law, gaming law, regulatory compliance and employment law.
• Strong working knowledge of contract, employment, and business law concepts and operations.
• Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority (GRA).
• Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in hiring.

Responsibilities

• Advise Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures and subsidiaries in all areas of law.
• Provide legal support for business development, marketing, and administration; draft and assist in contract negotiations.
• Support employee benefit plans including communication, administration, plan design and compliance.
• Identify and analyze risks related to development projects and acquisitions.
• Establish compliance processes and procedures tailored to relevant industries.
• Collaborate with Band Government Affairs to protect MLCV’s business interests.
• Work with in-house counsel on complex projects; manage outside counsel.
• Draft and amend Band law as directed to support Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures and ventures.
