Job summary

Albertsons Companies seeks a Lead Accountant – Corporate Accounting with a Self-Insurance focus to oversee complex GAAP-based accounting, reporting, and analysis of self-insurance programs. You will lead offshore resources, mentor staff, ensure SOX controls where applicable, and drive accuracy and timeliness in financial close.

You will partner with FP&A and Risk Management to forecast, analyze variances, and deliver actionable insights that influence strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 7+ years in accounting/finance roles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/Workday/PeopleSoft).
• Experience with BI tools (Power BI/Tableau/Alteryx).
• Budgeting and forecasting for complex programs.
• Strong analytical skills and data-driven recommendations.
• Experience coordinating offshore resources.
• Ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead self-insurance reserves accounting and close processes.
• Review actuarial reports and translate findings into journal entries.
• Ensure proper recording of loss reserves, IBNR, and related accruals.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and disclosures.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting and audits.
• Provide direction to offshore accounting resources.
• Drive automation and process improvements across operations.
• Partner with FP&A and Risk Management for forecasts.
• Monitor budgets and forecasts for self-insurance programs.
