Job summary

Cove Communities in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a highly accountable accounting professional to support the Accounting department by managing daily tasks and contributing to the organization’s financial health and scalable growth.

You will participate in the month-end close, prepare journal entries, reconcile balance sheet and income accounts, and assist with GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The role requires attention to detail and collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  • Big 4 experience is required.
  • 3–5 years of auditing or accounting experience; real estate experience preferred.
  • CPA is preferred.

  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements.
  • Ensure timely, accurate processing of financial transactions including debt, equity, leases, and taxes.
  • Support external auditors during annual audits.

Job description

A highly accountable and results-oriented professional who is ready to hit the ground running and support the organization’s Accounting department by managing daily accounting tasks. The goal of this position is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the Accounting team and help provide insights on the organization’s financial condition, allowing the correct decisions to be made to accomplish long-term success and scalable growth.

Participating in the month-end close process, preparing journal entries, and reconciling balance sheet accounts. This individual will ensure that processes are designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s financial results, and comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure preparation and submission of any required financial reports to support senior management teams.
  • Manage timely and accurate processing and recording of financial transactions, including debt, equity, insurance, leases, management fees, and taxes.
  • Reconcile, review, and analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, and improve efficiency through automation, standardization, and best practices.
  • Provide support to external auditors on annual audits for multiple entities, including preparation of financial statements and footnotes.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of GAAP and best practices for completing month-end close.
  • Able to work with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas.
  • High competency with compiling and analyzing financial information.
  • Strong attention to detail to avoid or catch potential errors on financial statements.
  • Able to multitask, establish priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • Big 4 experience required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of auditing or accounting experience, real estate industry preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
