Job summary

Ethos is seeking a senior writer in the US who can craft direct mail and paid social copy that stops the scroll and compels action. The role requires a journalist’s mindset, ability to uncover compelling angles, and collaboration with designers and performance teams to push creative while respecting insurance regulations.

You will lead testing, write across mail pieces and social ads, and use AI tools to generate ideas at scale while maintaining sharp, compliant messaging.

Responsibilities

• Write Direct Mail pieces (envelope teasers, letters, postcards, self-mailers, inserts) from brief to final delivery.
• Draft headlines, body copy, and CTAs for paid social ads across Meta and other platforms to stop the scroll and drive action.
• Create original angles, offers, and messaging territories to make Ethos feel urgent and worth attention.
• Write against test hypotheses (control vs. challenger, headline, offer, hook, CTA) and translate results into next rounds of copy.
• Collaborate with designers, the Creative Director of Paid Social, and performance marketing to leverage insights for future work.
• Coordinate with compliance and legal to ensure copy meets regulated requirements without losing persuasive edge.
• Leverage AI in concepting and writing to generate volume, explore new angles, and iterate fast without quality loss.
• Maintain a performance-oriented writing style: clear hook, strong argument, and immediate reason to act.
