Base pay range
$77,111.00/yr - $131,089.00/yr
We are on the quest for an amazing writer who is proficient in three areas:
- Conceptual and strategic thinking
- Condensing complex ideas into short, crisp, and clear messaging
- Food writing (UX, digital, signage)
A unicorn? Perhaps. But you should be a highly charged communicator who is skilled in working on tentpole projects and multi brands that require all three skills.
Equally important, you should be receptive to feedback and be adaptable, proactive, and comfortable with changing priorities. “Collaboration” is your middle name. Beyond that, you must be passionate about selling in your ideas (and defending them) across the department.
This role reports directly to the Creative Director of Copy for Whole Foods Market and sits on our food-loving creative team: the writers, designers, and thinkers responsible for turning strategy briefs into the customer-facing cool stuff that builds brand love and drives the business for Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh brands. Lastly, and vitally important, you should have a portfolio of blow-me-away writing skills. Not the stuffy, white tablecloth kind of writing, but rather the approachable, next-door neighbor type of writing that showcases your love for food.
The Job
- Ability to write about food in diverse styles while keeping the brand voice prevalent—including writing snappy, short copy for UX and concise, clear, informational, and promotional copy for emails, digital banners, paid media assets, and in-store signage.
- Turn technical concepts into customer-friendly communications.
- Ideate and write editorial content for a compelling customer experience on Whole Foods Market and Amazon websites.
- Collaborate with marketing program managers to write click-y copy that incorporates consumer insights and SEO data.
- Concept with designers on photo selection, design, and overall strength of each asset to ensure a strong finished product.
- Present work to Creative Director, Design Director, and Senior Leadership for approval.

The Hard Skills
- Culinary knowledge above and beyond that of a typical writer.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency.
- Established writing, editing, and proofreading skills including excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Understanding of digital and print marketing and their production processes.
- Ability to research and build knowledge base on a variety of topics and create the context necessary for communicating information clearly to customers.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential information.
Desired Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent work experience)
- Promotional marketing and editorial work (5 years)
- UX writing (2 years)
The wage range for this position is $77,111.00-$131,089.00 Annual, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits".
