Job summary

Texas State Technical College Marshall seeks a Senior Coordinator, Residence Life and Student Engagement to oversee on-campus housing operations and student activities, ensuring a safe, supportive environment for residents. You will supervise staff, advise student organizations, and lead leadership development and civic engagement programs.

In absence of the campus director you serve as Director of Housing, respond to crises, and coordinate with campus safety, facilities and risk management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years of facilities management or event coordination in higher education.
• Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in student affairs or related field.
• Three+ years of experience in student activities, recreation programming, or residential life for college-aged students.
• Current CPR, Stop the Bleed, and First Aid certifications.

This position provides direct oversight of residential life operations and student engagement initiatives, ensuring a safe, supportive, and enriching environment for on-campus students. Reporting through the Statewide Student Engagement Manager, the Senior Coordinator supervises staff, advises student organizations, and leads programming efforts that foster leadership development, civic engagement, and community connection. Serves as Director of Housing in the absence of the campus director, providing continuity of leadership and operational stability. Responds to and coordinates crisis management situations in partnership with student housing staff and campus safety officers.Collaboration & CommunicationServes as advisor to major statewide engagement initiatives including Welcome Week, Techsan Day, Campus Auto Show, and other signature events. Collaborates with Facilities and Risk Management to enhance student safety and minimize risk during engagement activities. Provides clear, timely information to students regarding events, policies, and institutional expectations. Works through the Statewide Student Engagement Manager to support and oversee student organizations across the Marshall campus.Project & Work ManagementDevelops and implements leadership development programs, civic engagement opportunities, and community service activities that empower students to grow as active contributors to their communities. Oversees the creation, monitoring, and support of student organizations and their associated activities and events. Manages operations of activity and recreation spaces, including the Fitness Pad and all outdoor areas, ensuring they are safe, functional, and accessible.Quality & ComplianceDesigns and delivers student wellness programs, using data to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, mandates, and institutional procedures as outlined in the Student Handbook and governed by state standards. Maintains accurate records and documentation related to residential life operations, student engagement activities, and program outcomes.Education & ExperienceMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of two years of experience in facilities management, event coordination, or a related field, preferably within a higher education setting.Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education where appropriate and consistent with TSTC's equivalency philosophy.Preferred QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in student affairs, recreation, hospitality, or a related field.Three or more years of experience in student activities, recreation programming, or residential life for college-aged students.Experience working with communal living groups in an educational or residential property setting.
