Title: Senior Coordinator, Institutional Advancement

Supervisor Title: Senior Manager, Institutional Advancement

Employment Status: Non‑Exempt

Salary: $52,500 - $60,638, depending on experience

This position is located in Washington, D.C. Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees. The position may work partially remotely until further notice.

Summary of Position

The Senior Coordinator, Institutional Advancement, supports Meridian's Engagement, Growth, and Partnerships division in a non-supervisory role. This position is a frontline fundraising role that independently owns a portfolio within the individual giving/donor engagement membership program and takes the lead on one or more special events and gala workstreams, capable of exercising independent judgment on donor strategy, materials, and event execution with minimal day-to-day oversight. Key responsibilities include fundraising outreach, independent management of assigned donor and event portfolios, donor database management, donor research, and drafting and finalizing fundraising and event collateral. A detail-oriented, service-minded approach, sound independent judgment, and enthusiasm for relationship-centered fundraising are essential.

Fundraising Support
  • Serve as frontline fundraiser for special events such as the Meridian Ball and Culturefix, independently managing an assigned prospect portfolio and exercising judgment on outreach strategy, timing, and messaging
  • Independently manage moves management for an assigned donor portfolio — identification, cultivation, asks, gift closing, and stewardship — determining the appropriate approach with minimal oversight
  • Maintain and update gift trackers; monitor pledge fulfillment timelines, flag outstanding commitments, and independently resolve routine discrepancies
  • Draft and finalize fundraising materials including sponsorship packets, invitations, and event-related correspondence, requiring minimal revision from senior staff
  • Track event donations and associated details (e.g., seating assignments, dietary preferences, recognition listings)
  • Independently conduct donor research and compile background briefs, exercising judgment on which details are most relevant to prepare senior staff ahead of donor meetings
  • Own stewardship of an assigned group of Meridian Council members, including communications, event invitations, and engagement tracking
  • Draft and finalize acknowledgment notes, thank‑you letters, and routine correspondence on behalf of senior leadership, requiring minimal review
Fundraising Event/Program Support
  • Independently produce donor engagement programs for the Meridian Council, owning speaker coordination logistics end-to-end including invitation tracking and scheduling
  • Take the lead on logistics for select special donor events (lunches, dinners, salons, holiday gatherings) across the U.S., and support international programming including Global Insights delegations and related donor travel experiences
  • Independently build and maintain event campaigns in Salesforce; manage Splash registration pages, track RSVPs, and oversee attendee communications
  • Take the lead on developing event content for invitations, newsletters, websites, and follow‑up communications
  • Serve as on‑site lead for assigned Institutional Advancement events, staffing from setup through cleanup and directing day‑of logistics; assist with other Engagement, Growth, and Partnerships events as assigned

  • Complete all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meet all organizational deadlines

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3+ years of related experience in frontline fundraising, event coordination, and nonprofit administration
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Customer service-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
  • Interest in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations career
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong event planning and logistics experience
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and strong project management skills
  • Self-starter with a collaborative, high-energy approach
  • Strong inter-cultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity, and tact suitable for working with individuals from around the world
Technical Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams is necessary for this role
  • Experience with a CRM is required; experience with Salesforce is preferred
  • Experience with third party Salesforce applications such as Pardot, Spash, and iWave, preferred
