Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer seeks a Senior Conveyance Project Engineer/Manager for our Seattle office. You will lead planning, design, and rehabilitation of water, wastewater, and stormwater pipelines, with responsibilities spanning technical leadership and coordination across disciplines.

Qualified candidates will have a Civil Engineering degree, a PE license (or eligible), and 10+ years of conveyance experience. The role offers strong growth, competitive benefits, and impact on critical infrastructure

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in conveyance engineering or project management.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligible for PE registration.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, design, and coordination of water/wastewater/stormwater conveyance pipelines.
  • Manage project execution from conception through construction and commissioning.
  • Prepare contract specifications and drawings and oversee field engineering support.
  • Interpret modeling results to inform pipeline design and rehabilitation decisions.
  • Coordinate with Stormwater, Civil, and other disciplines to resolve utility conflicts.

Hazen and Sawyer is seekinga Senior Conveyance Project Engineer/Managerfor ourSeattle office. As part of our design and process teams, you will be working on the planning and design of new or rehabilitation of water, wastewater, and storm water pipelines.

Required Experience

The desired candidate will have experience in:

  • Serving as Project Manager, Design Manager or Project Engineer with full technical responsibility for planning, coordination and execution of tasks for small or larger projects
  • Preparation of contract specifications and drawings
  • Planning, design and construction of new pipelines (pressure and gravity) ranging in diameters and material type including condition assessment and prioritization and rehabilitation of existing pipelines
  • Interpretation of modeling results to inform design of new pipelines or rehabilitation of existing pipelines
  • Pipe design calculations to determine pipe size, pressure class, external loads including trench design, pipe joint selection, etc.
  • Utility investigations and coordination to determine and resolve potential vertical and horizontal utility conflicts
  • Knowledge of subsurface and geotechnical engineering requirements
  • Field surveying project requirements
  • Sewer system evaluation surveys; inflow/infiltration studies
  • Development and review of technical reports, proposals, contract documents, resources studies, and data analysis
  • Office and field engineering support during construction
Desired Experience
  • NASSCO certification
  • Site/civil design for conveyance systems
  • Exposure to field investigations, pipeline construction and associated street reconstruction
  • Permitting of soil and erosion control, storm water, site plans, and drainage studies
  • Knowledge of the types of trenchless technologies for pipeline construction.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • A minimum of 10 years' of experience
  • PE required with ability to obtain registration in other States
  • Possess strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Effectively and proactively coordinate with various disciplines (Stormwater, Civil, etc.)
