Job summary

A leading environmental engineering firm in Albuquerque is seeking an Assistant Engineer I or II. You will assist in engineering deliverables for water and wastewater projects and gain hands-on experience with senior engineers. Overview

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Assistant Engineer I or II for our Albuquerque office. As part of our design and process teams, you will work on water and wastewater projects, including drinking water/wastewater/reuse treatment facility upgrades, conveyance systems, wellfields, stormwater management, water resources, and asset management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing engineering deliverables, including sampling studies, condition assessments, process modeling, hydraulics, and design reports
  • Work directly with senior level engineering team providing mentoring opportunities to learn and develop
  • Manage data for process modeling and design
  • Attend client and internal project management meetings
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to select equipment
  • Support multiple projects from planning through construction
  • Participate in fieldwork and site visits (mostly in-state)
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering
  • Strong interest in the water/wastewater industry
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience within the water/wastewater industry that counts towards PE license
  • EIT certification
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interest in hydraulic modeling
  • Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering
  • Conducts self-quality reviews before submitting work for additional QA/QC
