Job summary

Uhl Company is seeking a Senior Controls Systems Technician to join our building automation team in Maple Grove. You will lead design, programming, commissioning, and technical support for commercial control projects, delivering reliable systems and occupancy comfort.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in HVAC/IT, strong problem-solving, and experience with modern control platforms; Schneider EcoStruxure or Niagara 4 a plus; bachelor or associate degree preferred, with strong teamwork and

• 2+ years technical/field experience.
• 2+ years HVAC and IT systems understanding.
• 2+ years commissioning/testing building automation systems.
• 2+ years programming sequence of operation logic in BAS.
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Schneider EcoStruxure or Niagara 4 experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Preplanning: scope tasks, develop schedules, anticipate issues, collaborate with team.
• Evaluate scope changes and client needs.
• Coordinate with trades, perform start-ups and commissioning as needed.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Controls Systems Technician, you will become an effective member of one of our project teams and execute design, programming, commissioning, technical support for building automation controls projects. If you want to work on some of the most challenging and interesting commercial control projects the industry has to offer, this is the position for you!In this position, you will:

• Be part of the project preplanning process, accurately scope out length and difficulty of tasks and projects, develop schedules, anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks, and collaborate with project team to proactively resolve problems; sets objectives and goals with specific measures


• Evaluate scope changes, additional work orders and the client’s needs


• Coordinate work with other trades, perform start-ups and commissioning as needed


• Determine equipment and materials required for customer’s system performance and proactively identify problems


• Provide technical guidance to diagnose control system concerns and ensure occupancy comfort


• Troubleshoot local controllers, communication wiring, programs, and schedules to identify concerns and determine corrective action


• Ensure proper measurement and verification (M&V) equipment functionality, including accurate data recording and storage

Position Requirements:

• Must pass background check.


• 2+ years of technical and/or field related experience.


• 2+ years of understanding of HVAC and IT systems.


• 2+ years of commissioning and testing of building automation systems.


• 2+ years of programming creation or modification of sequence of operation logic in building automation systems.


• Schneider Electric EcoStruxure or Niagara 4 experience a plus.


• Advanced written, verbal, customer service and relationship building skills.


• High-level organizational skills.


• Flexible, willingness to be able to adapt to change.


• Ability to work well with others both internally and externally including in stressful situations.


• Proficiency in standard office computer programs such as MS Office 365.


• Ability to operate effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.


• Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or similar experience.


• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills


• Understanding of operational concepts including planning, scheduling and logistics


• Ability to multi-task under pressure of multiple projects
