Job summary
Shoals Technologies Group in Tennessee is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to design, program, and support the control systems behind our manufacturing operations. This role partners with Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to improve equipment reliability and throughput through strong controls and automation practices.
You will mentor technicians and other engineers, develop PLC/HMI/SCADA solutions, and help lead capital projects from concept to startup while ensuring
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years in controls engineering in manufacturing.
- Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley/Rockwell required; Siemens a plus).
- Experience with HMI and SCADA applications.
- Knowledge of motor controls, VFDs, sensors, and industrial networks.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and create control panel layouts.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and mentoring skills.
- Willing to work flexible hours including second/third shift.
Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission control systems for manufacturing equipment.
- Lead controls engineering for new installations and projects from concept through startup.
- Develop and maintain PLC programs, HMI, and SCADA.
- Troubleshoot complex controls issues to minimize downtime.
- Support integration of robotics and vision systems.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, UL codes.
