Job summary

Wunderlich-Malec in Boise, ID is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, implement, test, and startup control systems for large-scale industrial facilities. You will work under a lead engineer to streamline project execution and improve tools and standards, with responsibilities spanning software/hardware design and field integration.

The role requires 2–5 years of Siemens PCS 7 experience, strong problem-solving, and effective communication with clients and project teams.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of hands-on Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 experience.
• Proficiency with CFC and SFC engineering in the PCS 7 environment.
• Experience with AS 410 / S7-400H high-availability (redundant) controllers.
• Working knowledge of PROFIBUS PA/DP, PROFINET, and redundant industrial networks.
• Experience with PCS 7 OS / WinCC operator systems.
• Strong, methodical troubleshooting under live-process conditions.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Responsibilities

• Support Siemens SIMATIC PCS 7 PLC/DCS programming, configuration, testing, and commissioning for a large-scale industrial facility.
• Develop and troubleshoot control applications within the SIMATIC PCS 7 environment, including control logic, equipment sequencing, interlocks, alarms, and field device integration.
• Support development and modification of operator graphics and process visualization, following established project standards and templates.
• Review P&IDs, control drawings, I/O lists, control narratives, and equipment submittals to understand process requirements and develop the associated controls.
• Configure and validate I/O and field device integration, including instrumentation, control valves, VFDs, and packaged equipment.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and functional testing, including I/O checkout, device verification, loop checks, sequence testing, and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with engineering, electrical, instrumentation, automation, and construction teams to resolve controls integration and field issues.
• Maintain project documentation, including PCS 7 configuration, I/O documentation, testing records, and as-built information.
