General Motors LLC is seeking a Lead Hybrid Calibration Engineer to refine the program vision, own the team's roadmap, and coordinate dependencies across multiple teams. The role requires SME-level knowledge of propulsion system controls, MATLAB/Simulink, and embedded software development in C, with strong collaboration in a hybrid work environment.

You will drive feature strategy, define acceptance criteria for tests, and ensure verification prior to end-user validation while leading Scrum

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in automotive/related engineering field.
  • 5+ years as Lead Hybrid Calibration Engineer or similar role.
  • 5+ years in propulsion system controls algorithm development and embedded software.

Responsibilities

  • Refine program vision, own team roadmap, and prioritize backlog with Program Management and System Architects.
  • Act as SME for Scrum Team content and coordinate dependencies with other teams.
  • Translate product feature strategy into User Stories, estimate, and sequence for PI Planning.
  • Define acceptance criteria for BDD and ensure testability and DoD compliance.
  • Coach Scrum Team members and participate in team demonstrations and retrospectives.
  • Support hybrid work policy: 3 days in-office, 2 days remote.

Job Description
DUTIES
  • Collaborate with the Program Management team and System Architects to refine the program vision, own team's roadmap, and maintain and prioritize team's backlog.
  • Perform as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Scrum Team's content.
  • Coordinate dependencies with other Scrum managers when deliverables are dependent on other Teams for completion.
  • Work closely with Scrum Team Leader to ascertain Team capacity and translate product feature strategy into User Stories, assisting with Story definition, estimation, and sequencing for Program Increment Planning events.
  • Work day-to-day with the Scrum Teams clarifying requirements, constantly communicating, and gaining alignment around Feature or Product Strategy.
  • Provide clearly defined acceptance criteria to enable Behavior Driven (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Provide guidance for System Demonstration Strategy during Story creation including unit, integration and system level test strategy.
  • Verify Stories are testable and can be used to generate testing objectives.
  • Ensure validation and testing of features occurs prior to End User Acceptance.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of the product is maintained and enable the solution to address program priorities including Features and Enablers, thoroughly addressing anomalies and other quality concerns in a timely manner.
  • Accept each story and participate in Team Demonstrations and Retrospectives to validate quality, providing feedback to team and improving team processes.
  • Validate that Stories meet their pre-determined acceptance criteria, have appropriate, persistent Acceptance tests, and otherwise comply with Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Participate in the following Team and Program Events: Program Increment Planning, Iteration Retrospectives, ART Inspection and Adapt sessions, SM/ART Synchronizations.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to Scrum Team members.
  • Hybrid Work Policy – 3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote – Must be able to report local office.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Lead Hybrid Calibration Engineer, Hybrid Powertrain Calibration Engineer, or related occupation.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the following: Algorithm development and calibration for propulsion system controls; Embedded controls and controls software development; MATLAB and Simulink, DOORS, GIT environments; and Embedded Controls Development and Delivery Process.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the following: Plant modeling and analysis tools; Electrification Software and Diagnostics development; System modeling and simulation including Software, Hardware, and MIL/SIL/ HIL testing; Controls software development in C programming; and Vehicle propulsion, chassis control, battery high voltage, vehicle energy transfer, charging and automotive system.
