Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Software Engineer to build, integrate, and optimize the Mechatronic Abstraction Interface, owning the full lifecycle from requirements to deployment.

You will participate in designing a next‑gen in‑vehicle Abstracted Mechatronic Platform for GM’s new electronic architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security within a Scrum/Agile environment. Hybrid work policy applies with in‑office and remote days.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's in a related engineering field with required years of experience.
  • Experience with automotive control systems, RTOS, and C/C++ development.
  • Familiarity with AutoSAR, communication protocols, and Agile/Scrum processes.

Responsibilities

  • Build, integrate, and optimize the Mechatronic Abstraction Interface.
  • Own the full lifecycle: requirements, design, development, deployment, maintenance.
  • Contribute to design of a next‑gen in‑vehicle Abstractive Mechatronic Platform for GM's new architecture.
  • Ensure scalability, maintainability, reliability, security of software modules.

Job description

Job Description DUTIES

Build, integrate, and optimize the Mechatronic Abstraction Interface. Responsible for the entire life cycle of the assigned product, including requirements, system design, development, deployment, and maintenance of the software modules. Participate in the design of a best-inclass in-vehicle Abstracted Mechatronic Platform for GM new electronic architecture. Follow software development process and ensure that the designed solutions conform to architectural requirements such as scalability, maintainability, reliability, extensibility, usability and security.

Hybrid Work Policy

3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study and Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Consultant, or related occupation
  • Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study and Three (3) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Consultant, or related occupation

One (1) year of experience with:

  • Automotive control systems with RTOS platforms
  • Programming and debugging complex code base in C, C++
  • Scripting languages including shell and Python
  • Automotive serial communication CAN/ LIN protocols
  • AutoSAR and Adaptive AutoSAR developments
  • Service-oriented communication protocols including SOME/IP, DDS, and REST
  • and Scrum/Agile software development process and SCM tools.
