Job summary

Alliance Automation, based in the United States, is seeking a Principal Controls Engineer to lead as a senior hands-on technical leader within the Controls Engineering team. The role focuses on solving complex problems, mentoring engineers, and advancing programming standards from concept to customer acceptance.

The successful candidate will work on PLC/PAC platforms, robotics, vision, motion control, and MES integration, while shaping project scope, estimating labor, and driving performance

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of controls engineering and industrial automation experience.
• Expert-level capability with at least one major PLC/PAC platform.
• Advanced experience with industrial robotics and machine-vision systems.
• Strong knowledge of industrial networking, motion control, machine safety, data collection, and MES integration.
• Ability to estimate programming, commissioning, and site-support labor requirements.
• Ability to remain hands-on with programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Mentoring and technical development of Controls Engineers and technicians through hands-on guidance and reviews.
• Design, program, commission, and troubleshoot complex automation systems involving PLC/PAC, robotics, vision, and MES.
• Develop programming standards, reusable code, templates, and commissioning practices.
• Provide technical leadership from concept through customer acceptance and manage risks.
• Support concept development, system architecture, labor estimating, and customer meetings.
