Job summary

Altria is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer in Richmond, VA to provide control system support for PMUSA manufacturing operations. You will develop PLC software and HMIs, implement improvements, and analyze data to sustain process health while coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams.

The role requires 5+ years in process control, with strong background in Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI platforms, and related automation hardware.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience supporting process control systems, instrumentation, sensors, valves and related hardware/software.
Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, FactoryTalk View, Modicon 984 Ladder/Concept/Unity, Canary, Intouch Standalone and System Platform.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support during regular and off-hours to ensure tobacco processing meets business needs.
Develop PLC software and operator interfaces (HMI).
Develop and deploy control system improvements to enhance process capability.
Analyze process data to evaluate health and performance; Canary experience is desired.
Plan and execute projects and support maintenance with internal union labor and external resources.
Support reliability initiatives to minimize failures via root cause analysis and predictive maintenance.
Mentor team members and operations on technical topics.
