Job summary

IMEG Corporation in Detroit, MI is seeking a Senior Controls Designer to lead design and delivery of control systems for projects of any complexity, collaborating with engineers and senior staff to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The role involves managing design documentation, specifying components, QA, and supporting PLC and HMI programming, including limited on-site work and commissioning. It also covers budgeting, mentoring, client coordination, and forecasting.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 7+ years in control systems automation and instrumentation consulting or construction; 8+ preferred.
• 11+ years in control systems automation and instrumentation consulting or construction; 12+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering for control system projects of varying complexities.
• Collaborate to develop engineering solutions, hardware specs, and submittal documents.
• Perform PLC and HMI programming, commissioning, and on-site implementation as needed.
• Ensure QA of client deliverables and adherence to standards and codes.
• Manage multiple projects, schedules, and execution.
• Support proposals with design scopes, fee estimates, and contract reviews.
• Develop and maintain project schedules and milestones.
• Act as primary contact for internal teams and clients.
• Oversee monthly billing, financial reporting, and forecasting.
• Lead design reviews and provide construction support.
• Conduct site visits and manage change orders.
• Mentor staff and build client relationships.
