Job summary

Corning is seeking a dedicated Controls Engineer to design, develop, program, implement and optimize control systems for its cable manufacturing processes. You will lead troubleshooting, mentor junior engineers, and drive cross-functional projects to improve reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities include designing robust automation using Allen-Bradley PLCs, mentoring teammates, coordinating with integrators, and supporting safety programs in a dynamic plant environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/related field.
• 4+ years in manufacturing with HMI/SCADA and PLCs in a plant.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical 2021 for drawings.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA safety codes and LOTO.

Responsibilities

• Lead problem solving for short-term process and equipment issues.
• Design and implement robust automation and control systems for production.
• Mentor junior controls engineers.
• Manage controls scope for process improvement and capital projects.
• Interface with external system integrators for fully integrated equipment.
• Collaborate with maintenance, operations and other functions to troubleshoot and complete projects.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
