Job summary

Corning is seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer to design, program, and optimize PLC-based control systems for our fiber optic cable production plant in North Carolina. You will develop and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs, implement robust automation, and supervise the controls scope of capital projects.

The role requires a BS/MS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with strong PLC expertise, ladder logic skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally to ensure safe, efficient

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with controls aptitude.
• Ability to debug and monitor PLC code – ladder logic.
• Strong electrical aptitude and safety mindset.
• Sound understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and practical application.
• Experience with data analysis using Excel, Access, SQL, or PowerBI.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify Allen Bradley PLC programs for fiber optic cable production.
• Design and implement new control systems projects.
• Manage the controls engineering scope of process improvement and capital expansion.
• Implement robust, cost-effective automation and machine control systems.
• Interface with external system integrators to deliver integrated equipment.
• Participate in all project phases from design to startup and training.
