Job summary

S&C Electric Company, based in Chicago, seeks a Controls Engineer III to advance manufacturing process automation and capital projects. You’ll design PLC/HMI solutions, support equipment startups, and collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Facilities to improve feeder plant performance.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, training of staff, and coordinating with lean engineers on line improvements, with a competitive base salary and annual incentive eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field (BSEE/BSCS preferred).
• Experience writing PLC code for major platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, GE).
• Experience with HMI code in Wonderware, FactoryTalk View ME/SE, RSView.
• Familiarity with process controls and automation.
• Experience commissioning manufacturing equipment and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Provide electronic engineering and software programming for manufacturing process automation.
• Connect PLC and CNC equipment to networked data collection systems.
• Develop and maintain HMI software for process automation.
• Develop and maintain PLC software for process control equipment.
• Assist maintenance with training and startup of automation systems.
• Lead training for factory and support staff on new equipment.
• Collaborate with Lean and manufacturing engineers on improvements.
• Update facilities process and data recording/retrieval processes.
• Support automation initiatives within maintenance groups.
• Assist with robotics integration and third-party automation projects.
