Job summary

Clayco seeks a Senior Controls Engineer – Mission Critical to lead the design, development, and integration of BMS, ICS, and SCADA for mission-critical facilities. You will design, program, and commission automation systems for data centers, pharma, and industrial sites.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in controls engineering, expertise in PLC/SCADA, and strong cybersecurity and networking knowledge. Travel to project sites for commissioning will be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 10+ years in controls engineering with 5+ years in mission-critical environments (data centers, pharma, etc.).
• Expertise in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, etc.), SCADA/HMI development (Ignition, Wonderware, Rockwell FactoryTalk, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of EPMS, cybersecurity for control systems, and industrial networking.
• Experience with real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
• Familiarity with NFPA, ISA, NIST standards for automation and control.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites for commissioning and validation.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission automation and control systems for mission-critical projects.
• Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA architectures to support complex facility operations.
• Integrate BMS, EPMS, and ICS into mission-critical environments.
• Perform network architecture design including cybersecurity best practices.
• Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and IT teams for seamless integration.
• Conduct system testing, validation, and troubleshooting during commissioning and operations.
• Manage vendor and subcontractor relationships to ensure performance specs.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in automation, IoT, and AI-driven control systems.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing.
