Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Controls Engineer to join a medical device manufacturing team in Jacksonville, FL. The role focuses on PLC, HMI, motion, and system integration to keep production compliant and high-performing.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in industrial automation, experience with Siemens/Mitsubishi/Allen-Bradley controls, HMI platforms, and a working knowledge of FDA/GMP environments. You will own troubleshooting, upgrades, FAT/SAT, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of experience in industrial automation and controls engineering.
• Advanced proficiency with Siemens, CTI/APT, Mitsubishi, AutomationDirect or Allen-Bradley controls.
• Experience with HMI platforms such as FactoryTalk View, Wonderware or ArchestrA.
• Strong knowledge of motion control, VFDs, safety systems and EtherNet/IP.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, and support PLC programs (Siemens, CTI/APT, Mitsubishi, Automation Direct, Allen-Bradley).
• Maintain and enhance HMI applications (FactoryTalk View, Wonderware, ArchestrA).
• Lead troubleshooting of automation, motion, and sequencing issues.
• Resolve downtime with structured root cause analysis.
• Support motion systems, servo drives, vision systems, and peripheral equipment.
• Lead controls-related upgrades, retrofits, and platform enhancements.
• Support FAT/SAT, commissioning, and equipment startups.
• Implement changes through formal change control and validation processes.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP and internal validation requirements.
• Maintain technical documentation and validation records.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and junior engineers.
