Job summary

Nuro is seeking a Senior/Staff Controls Engineer to design and deploy production controls software powering L4 autonomous driving across expanding operational domains—from parking lots to highways. You will work with autonomy, hardware, and systems engineers to solve complex problems on real vehicles globally.

You will develop robust control strategies, integrate with vehicle platforms, and explore ML for controls while ensuring safety and reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD preferred in a closely related field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in developing and deploying L2+ or higher automated driving controls software at scale.
• Strong embedded C/C++ programming skills and math/physics foundations.

Responsibilities

• Develop production-level control software following safety standards (ISO 26262).
• Create robust interactions between planner and controller and advanced control strategies for expanded ODD including parking lots through highway driving.
