Job summary

Prime Management Group Inc. is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join the Maintenance & Reliability team in Detroit.

This hands-on role focuses on designing, supporting, and optimizing automated systems in a fast-paced manufacturing and processing environment. Reporting to the Maintenance and Reliability Superintendent, you will lead automation initiatives, improve system reliability, and assist with capital projects and new equipment commissioning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial controls and automation.
Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs, PowerFlex drives, and HMI platforms (PanelView, Wonderware, Ignition).
Experience with SCADA systems, networking, and Windows/VMware infrastructure.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
Flexibility to support projects and operational needs outside standard hours.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and maintain automated control systems (manual and automatic modes).
Develop and integrate HMIs for operator control and monitoring.
Establish and maintain Factory Information Systems for real-time data.
Integrate standalone equipment into centralized control platforms.
Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, drives, instrumentation, and networks.
Support commissioning of new equipment and capital projects.
Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliability and safety.
Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.
