Job summary

Adecco Permanent Recruitment is partnered with a leading Detroit manufacturing client to identify a full-time Controls Engineer. You will design, implement, troubleshoot, and optimize advanced controls and automation systems while partnering with engineering, maintenance, suppliers, and operations teams.

Responsibilities include developing PLC-based controls, troubleshooting downtime, and supporting robotics and vision systems.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Programming, or related field preferred.
2+ years of controls engineering or industrial automation experience.
Hands-on PLC programming experience (Allen-Bradley preferred).
Experience with HMIs, vision systems, and automated manufacturing equipment.
Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Manufacturing experience with Lean principles and process improvement initiatives.
Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Client is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Responsibilities

Develop, support, and improve PLC-based controls, automation projects, and equipment upgrades.
Troubleshoot controls issues to minimize downtime and improve production performance.
Program and maintain PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems.
Support robotics, automated assembly systems, and industrial communication networks.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput.
Collaborate with vendors and internal teams on new equipment installations and automation solutions.
