Job summary

Essex Solutions seeks a skilled Controls Engineer for its Innovation Center to design, implement, commission and maintain automated systems across industrial processes.

You will develop electrical schematics, write PLC programs and SCADA configurations while collaborating with cross-functional teams. On-site hours are 8am–5pm, with travel as needed; you will contribute to iterative improvements and IP development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation or equivalent.
• 3+ years of electrical design experience.
• Ability to create and modify electrical schematics in AutoCAD Electrical.
• Experience with Ignition SCADA or willingness to learn.
• Ability to design controls systems (electrical, PLC) from scratch.
• Hands-on experience with measurement, troubleshooting tools.
• Knowledge of NEC NFPA‑70E and Arc Flash requirements.
• Experience with multiple PLC platforms: Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, Keyence, Beckhoff.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement automation systems and develop electrical schematics and BOMs.
• Program PLCs and develop SCADA for reliable operation.
• Integrate automation with hardware and software, ensuring cybersecurity and data integrity.
• Collaborate with IT/OT and Mfg engineering to optimize control systems.
• Provide on-site support for commissioning, validation and start-up.
• Document technical specifications, configurations and operating procedures.
