Job summary

Mpac Group's Boston Conveyor & Automation unit seeks an experienced Senior Electrical & Controls Engineer to design, program, commission, and support advanced automated systems for diverse manufacturing sectors in New England.

You will develop detailed documentation, select automation hardware and software, and collaborate with customers to meet project milestones. Occasional travel up to 25% is expected, with a focus on delivering reliable, scalable automation solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of automation or controls engineering experience.
• Proficiency in ladder logic programming (Rockwell preferred).
• Experience with vision systems (Cognex, Fanuc, Keyence).
• Understanding of automated system risk assessments.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, commission, and support automated systems for food & beverage, life sciences, and general manufacturing.
• Document sequences of operation and develop IO maps, SOOs, and technical specs.
• Specify automation hardware and software components for projects.
• Support FATs, SATs, and site start-ups; assist customers and vendors as needed.

What You’ll Do

As a key contributor to our automation projects, you’ll be responsible for the design, programming, commissioning, and ongoing support of advanced automated systems. Your work will directly support customers in the food & beverage and life sciences sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, specify, implement, commission, and troubleshoot automated systems
• Document process sequences of operation and develop detailed technical documentation (IO maps, SOOs, etc.)
• Specify automation hardware and software components

Program:

• PLCs
• HMIs
• Multi-axis motion/servo systems
• Robotics with line tracking
• Integrated and standalone machine vision systems
• Support FATs, SATs, and site start‑ups
• Provide operational and control system troubleshooting support

Qualifications & Skills
