As a Sustaining Controls Engineer, you will work on the Ride Control aspect of Registered Attractions for Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. You will be responsible for designing, developing, editing, and troubleshooting PLC software, as well as hardware troubleshooting of PLC modules. The role involves providing technical direction, troubleshooting, analyzing control system hazards, and leading projects. You will manage tasks independently and mentor early career Cast members. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, safety, and innovation.

You will support field engineering for the Disneyland Resort, including troubleshooting, system reliability improvements, and documentation. This is a 24-month project hire, fully on-site in Anaheim, CA, reporting to the Senior Manager, Sustaining Engineering.

What You Will Do

  • Respond to attraction downtimes supporting engineering and operations.
  • Develop scopes for reliability improvements, including design, installation, and testing.
  • Select systems and equipment compliant with standards.
  • Monitor downtime trends and system performance.
  • Troubleshoot PLC software and hardware issues.
  • Partner with engineering teams on design efforts.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams.
  • Perform hazard analyses such as FMEA.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and codes.
  • Stay updated on ride control system technologies.
  • Work during off-hours as needed.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5+ years of controls systems experience in amusement parks or industrial environments.
  • Experience with ride element performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of electronic control systems, relays, PLCs, motor controls, and industrial automation (Rockwell, Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
  • Understanding of electrical codes and safety certifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, C/C++, ladder logic, wiring diagrams, and standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • California Professional Registration.
  • Experience in control circuit design, safety PLCs, audio/visual systems, scripting (C, VB, JS).

Education

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Master’s or MBA preferred.

The salary range is $126,100 - $154,100 per year, with potential bonuses and benefits.
