Job summary

North Wind in Saint Paul, MN, is seeking a Sr. Controls Designer to design and draft electrical equipment, wiring, and control systems for wind tunnel and hypersonic test projects. You will release custom equipment and support major facility upgrades, working closely with engineering teams.

The role combines hands-on design, hardware selection, field installation, and mentoring of junior designers. Occasional travel and a strong foundation in ECAD tools are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree from an accredited institution.
• 8+ years of practical work experience in drafting of wiring, electronics, data acquisition systems, or a similar role.
• Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.
• US Citizenship status is required due to security requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical, controls, and facility-integrated systems and organize CAD drawings and BOMs.
• Research and specify hardware, coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
• Communicate and manage release of BOMs and drawings to downstream departments.
• Interface with procurement, production, and installation teams to resolve issues.
• Provide labor and schedule estimates and help manage project budgets.
• Perform remote site field installation, testing, and update as-built drawings.
• Mentor junior designers and interns within the team.
