Job summary

North Wind is seeking a Mechanical Designer in St Paul, MN to develop and release CAD models and drawings for mechanical parts used in wind tunnels and hypersonic test systems. This role collaborates with Controls, Software, Facilities, and AeroThermal teams to deliver custom components for new facilities and major upgrades.

Preferred candidates have 5+ years in aerospace design, solid CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred), and familiarity with PDM and ERP systems. U.S. Person status is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma in Designer/Drafting or related field required.
• 5+ years of practical work experience in aerospace or large industrial equipment design/drafting preferred.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling; SolidWorks experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• CAD Modeling: create detailed models for fabricated and purchased parts.
• Drawing/Drafting: produce fabrication drawings with GD&T and tolerances.
• Drawing Release & BOM: manage release workflow and revision control.
• Part Selection: identify and select commercially available parts.
• Budget and Schedule Management: prioritize tasks and track labor budgets.
• Support: provide guidance to fabrication, procurement, and installation teams.
